Label printing can start before the appointment, which takes effect when you complete onboarding, and the certificate follows within 60 minutes. Eldris's name, postal address and email go on the product, its packaging, the parcel or an accompanying document. Article 16(3) of Regulation (EU) 2023/988, the GPSR, sets those places, and Article 19(b) adds your online listings where the manufacturer is outside the EU.

Can label printing start before you appoint Eldris?

Yes. You can print packaging before the appointment, but it must carry Eldris's name, postal address and email. The appointment itself takes effect when you complete onboarding.

That suits label printing with a long lead time. The artwork does not have to wait for the certificate. But printed boxes cannot stand in for the appointment.

Under Article 16(1) of the GPSR, a covered product may not be placed on the market without an economic operator established in the EU. That operator is responsible for the tasks in Article 4(3) of Regulation (EU) 2019/1020. For EU markets, it is EldrisAi OÜ.

In law, placing on the market means the first making available of a product on the EU market. So boxes printed early can wait in stock. The products go on the EU market only once onboarding is complete.

The UK is a separate appointment for Great Britain, held by EldrisAI. So boxes for Great Britain carry EldrisAI's details, not the EU ones. The guide to the name and address on your label gives both.

In what order do label printing, appointment and listing happen?

Artwork and printing can come first, then onboarding, then the listings and the first sale. The one fixed point is the appointment, which has to take effect before a product goes on the EU market.

  1. Artwork: add Eldris's name, postal address and email next to your own details as manufacturer (Article 9(6)).
  2. Label printing: send the artwork to the printer. It does not have to wait for the certificate.
  3. Onboarding: complete the form, and the appointment takes effect. The certificate follows within 60 minutes.
  4. Listings: add Eldris's details to each offer for EU consumers. Upload the certificate where a marketplace asks for your Responsible Person.
  5. Placing on the market: you make the first unit available in the EU once the appointment is in place.

Onboarding asks for no documents before payment, so label printing and onboarding can run side by side. Onboarding ends at the Authorise step, where you accept the Letter of Authorisation. Payment comes last.

How to appoint Eldris sets out each step of the onboarding form. For the short answer, see the Responsible Person FAQ.

Where can the details go if label printing left them off?

On the parcel or an accompanying document, for products the GPSR covers. Article 16(3) lets the Responsible Person's name and postal and electronic address go on the product or its packaging, the parcel or an accompanying document.

So stock from an earlier label printing run does not need a reprint. The details can travel with each order instead, on the parcel or in an accompanying document.

Products such as toys and electrical equipment follow Article 4(4) of Regulation (EU) 2019/1020. It names the same four places for the operator's name and contact details, including the postal address.

Cosmetics are stricter. Article 19(1)(a) of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 puts the Responsible Person's name and address on the container and the packaging. So a parcel insert does not replace them.

Your own manufacturer details follow Article 9(6) of the GPSR, which does not list the parcel. They go on the product or, where that is not possible, its packaging or an accompanying document.

Stock that carries an old Responsible Person's address is a separate case, covered in switching without a gap.

When must your online listings show the details?

From the moment an offer targets consumers in the EU. Article 4 of the GPSR then counts it as making the product available on the EU market.

Where the manufacturer is outside the EU, Article 19(b) has such an offer show the Responsible Person's name and postal and electronic address. So complete onboarding before a listing for EU consumers goes live. Then add Eldris's details to each such offer.

The certificate is also ready to upload to Amazon Seller Central or any marketplace that asks for your Responsible Person. Eldris's details then stay on each listing while your plan runs.

Under Article 22(9), online marketplaces must design their interface so that traders can give the manufacturer's and the Responsible Person's details for each product. Eldris's EU address goes into the Amazon Seller Central compliance fields and on marketplace listings. That way, listings and packaging carry the same details.

Under Article 22(11), marketplaces suspend, after a prior warning, traders that often offer non-compliant products. For that marketplace, the guide for Amazon sellers goes further.

How long can packaging carry Eldris's details?

For as long as your monthly plan runs. The appointment, the certificate and the EU address stay active while the plan runs. It runs month to month until either party ends it.

You pay the one-off fee for each market once, with no renewal and no re-registration. So it is the monthly plan that keeps the appointment active.

Adding an EU market or a product does not change the details you print, so it calls for no new label printing. EldrisAi OÜ holds each EU market, and one registration per market covers each product type. The plan, though, follows your active SKU count, so a larger range can move you to another tier.

Under the terms, service suspension may follow after a 7-day grace period on a failed payment. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. So the plan ends with the month you have paid for.

On termination the appointment ceases. The terms then require you to remove Eldris's details from packaging and marketplace listings within 30 days. The guide to cancelling the service covers the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the certificate before label printing starts?

No, you can print your packaging before the appointment, as long as it carries Eldris's name, postal address and email. The appointment then takes effect when you complete onboarding, and the certificate follows within 60 minutes. Your products, though, go on the EU market only once the appointment is in place.

Does the appointment wait for the certificate?

No, the appointment takes effect when you complete onboarding, and the certificate records the appointment date. It follows within 60 minutes and names each market you chose, with a document reference number. You can then upload it to Amazon Seller Central or to any marketplace that asks for your Responsible Person.

Can label printing for Great Britain start early too?

Yes, you can print packaging for Great Britain before the appointment as well. The UK is a separate appointment for Great Britain, held by EldrisAI, so that packaging carries EldrisAI's details rather than the EU ones. The guide to the name and address on your label gives both sets of details.

When should I add the details to my marketplace listings?

Once onboarding is complete and before a listing for EU consumers goes live. Where the manufacturer is outside the EU, Article 19(b) has the online offer show the Responsible Person's name and postal and electronic address. Eldris's EU address also goes into the Amazon Seller Central compliance fields, so your listings and packaging carry the same details.

Can I keep the same details when I add products?

Yes, one registration per market covers every product type, so your packaging keeps the same Eldris details. When you add a product or SKU, the certificate regenerates on its own, and there is no fee for that. The monthly plan, though, follows your active SKU count, so a larger range can move you to another tier.
